Jeff Haycock. Taken at 5th and German Village apartment. Jeff always was availavle as a great stand-in lighting test subject. A great guy and roommate. I think that what got us through CCAD- knowing you weren't alone and having creative compadres you could lean on. Comments and photo by Bob Brocke.

ESTHER CRAW | 1920-2008 Little accordionist drew crowd in German Village Friday, February 22, 2008 3:10 AM By Aaron Beck THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Esther Craw, an accordion player and one-time fixture at German Village festivals and restaurants, was remembered yesterday as a bantam musician whose spirit to entertain never waned.
Craw, 87, died of heart failure Tuesday in suburban Orlando, Fla., where she had lived near family since 2001.
"She sure could belt 'em out, even though that accordion was as big as she was," said Jeff Schmidt, one of the owners of Schmidt's Sausage Haus and Restaurant in German Village, where Craw occasionally played. "She always did so much for the Village, especially in the years she played at Deibel's."
Until Deibel's Restaurant closed in the mid-'90s, Craw performed there regularly with bassist Glen Wilson. Leading their "Very Big Band," Craw guided patrons through raucous runs of Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Roll Out the Barrel, Shine on Harvest Moon and other favorites.
"If you said 'Deibel's,' you said 'Esther Craw' next," said Susan Gall, owner of the Hey-Hey Bar & Grill in German Village. "The place was always standing-room only."
Outside her time in Deibel's, Craw became a fixture of the German Village Oktoberfest.
